... especially when it manages to surpass them!
Free Comic Book Day in Sydney managed that. Aside from the minor hiccup of trains running half an hour late (only to be expected from shittyrail) the day was total win!
Got into Town Hall station in Sydney around 11:00 ish, and got changed into my Riddler Skirt (pics to follow)downstairs from Kinokuniya (best bookstore in the history of everything ever), received a few odd looks from passers-by (which was hilarious!) and met up with my mate Corey and his girlfriend (who i had yet to meet at that point). We obtained two free comics each, just for being awesome, and i had my photo taken for a competition Kino is running on their facebook site (the costume with the most 'likes' wins a voucher). From there we headed to the only other decent comic book store in Sydney (receiving more odd looks on the way, due to my giant lime green poodle-skirt) where we were given another two comics and a lollypop each.
Lunch at a pub that looked like a total dive, but served steaks about the size of my face. Also win.
Back up to Kino ('casue that's where the party's at), where i was glomped and photographed by no fewer than four people, then the absolute highlight of my day, i ran into *theprincessbee who is made of win and awesome. She was recommended to me on DA a few weeks ago by an American Cosplayer as an example of how Aussies have the best cosplayers, so this girl is an international star of the cosplay scene, and she wanted a photo with me! So much squee!!!
At Central Station ran into a couple of girls who were into some of the same anime as me, so we started chatting. That chat took us from Central to Wollongong (2 hour trip), and covered our geeky passions and other miscillanious topics.
So, to sum up, I was given 5 free comic books, I got to meet a cosplay crush, and made two new friends. Now i'm off to watch a covers band called "The Villains" in my poodle skirt, then ice-cream on the way home. Awesome day all round.
